The Process of Graphic Recording or Facilitation

How it all works....

First of all you will contact me so we can discuss your goals and aspirations to ensure that I can meet your needs. We will commit to fees and expenses. We may wish to strategize the design of the event. If this is a complex design, we will need to coordinate a design day and I will charge my day rate.

Here are some of the design issues to contemplate:

- what is the desired outcome for the event? Are you seeking clarity on goals or examining your organization's deeper purpose, for example?

-      what role will I play? recorder? facilitator? custom chart artist?

-     where do you want me situated in the room? front? right side? left side?

-     what is the flow of the agenda? how do graphics fit into your overall aim?

- will completed charts be hung on the walls or rolled up and packed away?

- if I am doing custom chart work in advance of your event, when do you want the preliminary sketches for approval? And when do you need the final charts? Do you wish to have the final charts laminated before the event? Do you wish to distribute the jpeg images electronically before the event?

Once we are clear and ready, we begin! At the actual event, I will need to access the room 45 minutes before it begins in order to tape up paper. During the event I will be at the centre if facilitating or on the side if recording. I will be working fast and furiously to produce anywhere from two to three charts in a single day for your organization. Each chart is completed in a short time, generally between 30 minutes and 1 hour. I photograph the charts, edit them to ensure they are clear and readable and send you the jpeg images. I recommend that you distribute these to participants as quickly as possible to reignite the emotional connection to the experience.

It is really that simple!
